Dr Sonia Bordin Aykroyd has worked with LASERs and Orofacial Esthetics for over 30 years. She has lived and worked in Dentistry in 3 different countries and speaks 5 languages. Dr Sonia worked in different departments and dental subject areas of some of the major University Dental Schools in London: Guys Hospital, Royal London, Eastman Dental Institute and at the at the buccomaxillo-facial surgery dept of Lister Hospital, Stevenage surgical, where she worked with the removal of oral and facial cancers. In Brazil, Dr Sonia worked with the prosthetic oral and facial reconstruction of such patients, at the University of Sao Paulo. Dr Sonia was responsible for the introduction of the use of Lasers in dentistry in the UK in 1990 and have collaborated with research with major UK Universities: Guys & St Thomas's NHS Foundation Trust; King's College London; University of London /UCL; Royal London; Eastman Dental Institute; University of Nottingham; and MRC, Institute of hearing. In Brazil, Dr Sonia worked with lecturing and research, at the Dental Laser Center of the University Camilo Castelo Branco, and at the dept of Bucco-maxillo-facial prosthetics of the University of Sao Paulo. Currently, in the USA, Dr Sonia is still highly involved with laser technology, orofacial re-harmonization and with the teaching and research of lasers and its applications in esthetic medicine and dentistry.
